Understanding Edmentum Progress Reports & Grades
Knowing how a student is performing in his or her courses is important. We want to make sure that the student not only has access to that information, but also knows how to interpret it. All of that information is available to the student when they log in. PowerSchool grades for CVP courses may not be updated until the end of the next grading period. Parents can monitor their student’s progress in Edmentum.

Understanding the Different Roles in Virtual Learning
We've probably all heard the idiom "It takes a village..." That is especially true when it comes to helping students succeed in a virtual learning environment. Please take a look at how the roles of students, parents, and facilitators differ in virtual learning.

Tips to Help You Succeed
Edmentum Courseware courses provide great opportunities for students in need of more flexibility and expanded options, but online learning is far from an easy way out. To be successful in our courses, students must be prepared to work hard, hold themselves accountable, and learn to navigate the unique challenges of online learning as compared to traditional classroom learning. Here are some tips to help you succeed in your online courses!

Standardized Testing @ CVP
Columbus Virtual Pathway students are expected to report and participate in all scheduled state and local standarized tests in-person on the Columbus Virtual Pathway campus or at their home school. The State of Indiana mandates that students attend school and participate in all state standardized testing. It is the parents’/guardians’ responsibility to see that their children attend and participate in these required testing sessions. Failure to attend and participate in these sessions may result in dismissal from the CVP program.

Out of District Student Transfer Information and Form
A legal transfer must be completed if a child is enrolled in a BCSC school by a placing agency or the courts and child’s parent/legal guardian resides outside of the district.
A parent/legal guardian whose residency is outside the Bartholomew Consolidated School district may apply for a transfer if they want their child to attend a BCSC school.
A student must reapply for transfer enrollment prior to transitioning into middle and high school. This means a student will have to reapply in their 6th and 8th grade school years.
Approval of a transfer is based on space available in the receiving school and the student's standing in their home corporation.
Questions regarding residency and legal transfers should be directed to 376-4280.

Getting Started with ParentSquare
BCSC Families,
As the new school year approaches next week, we want to give you a heads up about a new communication tool that our district will be using in place of the past eAlert system. BCSC started using ParentSquare for family communication at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year.
We are moving to ParentSquare for a number of exciting reasons.
- ParentSquare will allow us to have one central tool for communication that includes newsletters, eAlerts, and messages.
- ParentSquare will allow quick translation for families on content and messages to and from parents so families and staff can be on the same page with each other.
- ParentSquare will let users set notification preferences (app, phone, email, etc.) so that families can receive messages the way they prefer.
- ParentSquare is simple for staff since all rosters and information is imported from PowerSchool.
- ParentSquare supports safety for everyone by archiving messages to and from users.
Families, teachers, and administrators can access ParentSquare via their website, www.parentsquare.com, or phone app. Teachers and administrators can also post using either the website or phone app.
In case you do not receive an invitation, by Thursday, please contact your student’s home school.
