Mr. Kevin Welsh
Drama Club meets one day a week (3:30-5:00pm). The schedule may vary due to the production schedule. Please look for more information on the theatre call board or contact Mr. Welsh.
The Columbus East Drama Club is proud to continue the tradition of supporting productions while learning skills in acting, stage combat, voice, movement, lighting, sound, set construction, desing, production management, and marketing and promotion. Students have the opportunity to learn about all areas of performance and technical theatre in a safe environment dedicated providing quality instruction. During productions, Drama Club participants help build and paint sets, support the production, learn acting and performance techniques being used in the production, and help research design concepts for the show.
The Drama Club also participates in fun activities around the school and in the community. Participants have the opportunity to help plan fund raising events, participate in trips to local and regional theatres, enjoy guest lectures by experts in the field of theatre, and celebrate with fellow students the activites and successes of the group.
The Robbins Auditorium, home to the Columbus East Theatre Department, will undergo a major facility renovation during the 2019-20 school year. New and improved seating, lighting, sound, and staging are all part of this exciting work. Due to the length of the construction period, our Fall Drama and possibly our Spring Musical will be performed in alternate locations. Please stay tuned for announcements about our upcoming productions and locations.
