About BCSC Special Education

At Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation, we believe every student is capable of growth and success—with the right supports, opportunities, and partnerships in place. Our Special Education team is proud to serve students with disabilities from preschool through age 22, providing services that are individualized, inclusive, and rooted in collaboration.

We are here to ensure all eligible students receive a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment, as determined by the case conference committee and in alignment with state and federal law. But beyond compliance, we are deeply committed to creating a learning environment where students feel seen, supported, and empowered.

A key part of that commitment is our district-wide use of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). UDL helps ensure all students have access to meaningful learning by proactively designing lessons and environments that accommodate diverse needs and learning styles. Through UDL, we create flexible, inclusive classrooms where students with and without disabilities can learn side by side—and thrive.

Our services include a wide range of specialized instruction and related supports designed to meet each student’s academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and communication needs. We work closely with families, educators, and community partners to develop meaningful Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that reflect the strengths, challenges, and goals of each child.

We know that strong relationships between home and school make a lasting difference. Thank you for trusting us to be part of your child’s educational journey. Together, we can ensure that every student has the tools and encouragement they need to flourish.

Have Questions or Concerns? We’re Here to Help.

We know that navigating special education can sometimes feel overwhelming, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

If you have questions or concerns about your child’s services, progress, or supports, we encourage you to begin by reaching out to your child’s Teacher of Record (TOR). They work closely with your child and are your primary point of contact for all things related to their Individualized Education Program (IEP).

If you need further support after speaking with the TOR, please contact your child’s school principal. Building leaders are an important part of your child’s educational team and can help address school-wide or program-specific questions.

For additional assistance, or if you still have unanswered questions, you are always welcome to contact the BCSC Special Education Office directly at (812) 376-4489 and/or vogelj@bcsc.k12.in.us. We’re happy to help clarify, problem-solve, and partner with you to ensure your child receives the support they need.

Together, we can make sure every student is set up to succeed.
