Indiana Governor's Work Ethic Program and Certificate

WHAT IS THE GOVERNOR’S WORK ETHIC CERTIFICATE?
The development and adoption of the community and employer-recognized Governor’s Work Ethic Certificate (GWEC) is critical to providing a pipeline of skilled high school graduates for today’s workforce. The employability skills recognized in the GWEC have been vetted by Hoosier employers, community based organizations and post-secondary education institutions and are designed to encourage students to meet the benchmarks that will assist them in their college or career goals.The program is structured to connect employers to their local school district through a College and Career Readiness Advisory Council, comprised of local educators and employers, establishing a fundamental, collaborative partnership for this program and continued alignment between the business community and our education system.
Program Criteria:
1. Student is able to persevere through challenges and problem-solve;
2. Student is accepting and demonstrates service to others, possesses a positive attitude and communicates clearly;
3. Student is a self-starter and a critical thinker;
4. Student is reliable and demonstrates responsibility and teamwork;
5. Student is organized, punctual and demonstrates self-management.
6. No more than one discipline referral (entire school year)
7. 6 hours of community service for secondary OR 2 hours for elementary
8. GPA 2.0 or higher (for secondary) OR maintaining academic progress (for elementary) -

Senior Projects Information
CNHS Senior Projects!
May 18 and 19: Each Senior is allowed up to 5 guests for the presentation. Guests must be pre-registered. Mrs. Miller has a pre-registration sheet for all guests. Please either email her at millerer@bcsc.k12.in.us or stop by room 1303 to register your guests if you plan to bring guests for your presentation. Mrs. Miller is in room 1303 in the afternoons.
Additional Information:
Columbus North High School will be having two half days of school on Tuesday, May 18th, and Wednesday, May 19th. Students will attend A Day classes in the morning of Tuesday, May 18th, and B Day classes in the morning of Wednesday, May 19th. Advisory is not scheduled on those two days. Lunch will be provided at 11:27 a.m. - 12:10 p.m. Buses will pick students up after lunch at 12:10 p.m. (Special Education Buses will do pick at 12:00 PM)Seniors will present their Senior Projects in the afternoon of Tuesday, May 18th, and Wednesday, May 19th. Each Senior has a designated time to present.It is expected that underclassmen complete educational lessons provided by teachers during the two afternoons. Job shadowing and service learning experiences can also be options. Please keep track of your hours for any job shadowing and service learning. There are forms posted on the Senior Project website to help with this process. -

all Hoosiers 16 years and older are eligible for a COVID vaccine
Effective March 31, 2021, all Hoosiers 16 years and older are eligible for a COVID vaccine. You must register using ourshot.in.gov for an appointment.April 10, 2021 from 10AM - 7PM, there will be a mass vaccination clinic at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds for anyone 18 years and older. The Moderna vaccine will be used at this site. Appointments are going fast, please schedule as soon as possible.BCSC does not require the vaccine for students or staff at this time. BCSC K-12 Virtual Pathway Information and Enrollment Form
BCSC’s Virtual Pathway is an independent K-12 online pathway in which students engage with BCSC teachers virtually to become expert learners who are purposeful and motivated; resourceful and knowledgeable; and strategic and goal-directed. The Virtual Pathway will utilize Edgenuity at the secondary level and possibly Edgenuity at the elementary level. These online courses are developed by Edgenuity and facilitated by BCSC teachers. BCSC teachers will interact virtually, guide engagement, manage assignments, and promote personal growth through a high quality, remote learning experience that incorporates the BCSC values listed above.
Please complete this enrollment form by Tuesday, April 13th. Teachers will be hired and schedules will be established based on enrollment numbers. After that date, enrollment will be based on availability.
