BOOK BUDDIES
About
Book Buddies Volunteers Make a Difference
Book Buddies is a one-on-one reading program that pairs community volunteers with 2nd and 3rd graders to help them grow as readers. Volunteers spend one hour a week working with two students, 30 minutes each. Sessions include reading books, recognizing sight words, playing literacy games, and more.
New volunteers are needed in all 11 BCSC elementary schools during the school day, Monday through Thursday, and are welcome to select the school of their choice. Volunteers receive a one-hour training session and a free background check. Under the guidance of Book Buddies Site Supervisors, volunteers use a pre-planned lesson and age-appropriate materials when working with students.

Support Book Buddies
Book Buddies, now in its 21st year, is a volunteer-based program that depends on donations to support our ongoing initiative. We host special events throughout the year that help raise money needed to purchase supplies, incentives, and books for students. If you are able to contribute financially, please consider a monetary donation. The monetary gifts can give us the tools needed to help a child become a better reader and a lifelong learner.
Your tax-deductible donation may be sent to the BCSC Administration Building at:
