VIRTUAL LEARNING & ELEARNING
BCSC may use eLearning or Virtual Learning Days when weather, health, or safety concerns prevent in-person learning. Both use Canvas to keep learning moving—but schedules, instruction, attendance, and assignment expectations differ.
See what to expect from each type of learning day below.
eLearning
eLearning Days
Flexible, self-paced learning
eLearning lessons will be available in Canvas by 9:00 a.m. Students work independently and complete assignments at their own pace.
- Teacher support: Teachers are available to provide support between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
- Recorded instruction: Learning materials and recorded lessons are posted in Canvas. Live Google Meet instruction may be offered, but it is not required.
- Assignment completion: Students generally have a 3-school-day window to complete and submit assigned work.
- Attendance: Students are counted present when required assignments are completed within the designated 3-school-day timeframe. Attendance expectations honor individual student plans, including IEPs, ILPs, and 504 plans.
- Consecutive eLearning Days: Additional deadline flexibility may be provided when multiple eLearning Days occur consecutively.
- Annual limit: eLearning Days are limited to 3 days per school year. *Subject to Indiana Department of Education requirements.
