      About Book Buddies

      • Book Buddies is a valuable tool for literacy within Bartholomew County. Through our program, children that are at risk for falling behind the reading standards are tutored by volunteers such as you. During the sessions, volunteers listen to children read and help them develop and strengthen better literacy skills.

      • Book Buddies tutor 2nd and 3rd graders reading below grade level.

      • The students receive 30 minutes of one-on-one tutoring, four days a week. The session includes reading books, sight words, learning activities, literacy games and more.

      • Volunteers are needed at the eleven public elementary schools - you can pick the school of your choice.

      • ​A one-hour training session and a free background check is provided.

      • The program begins in August and ends in April each year.​​
