Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation Celebrates Eleven Schools Achieving Prestigious Purple Star Designation
COLUMBUS, Indiana – [11/10/2023] – Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation proudly announces that eleven of its schools have been honored with the esteemed Purple Star designation by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE). This recognition is a testament to BCSC's unwavering commitment to supporting military families and students connected to our nation's armed services.
The Purple Star designation, the largest group awarded since its inception in 2020, is bestowed upon schools that demonstrate a significant commitment to service members, veterans, and their families. This year's designation includes 102 schools, with BCSC proudly contributing 11 to this prestigious list.
Secretary of Education Dr. Katie Jenner remarked, "The daily sacrifices of our service members and their families are beyond what many of us can comprehend. It is an honor to award the Purple Star designation to these Indiana schools for their recognition, celebration, and support of our military families, as well as our students who may be considering a future in military service."
The eleven BCSC schools honored with this designation are:
Clifty Creek Elementary
CSA Fodrea
CSA Lincoln Elementary School
L France Smith Elementary School
L Schmitt Elementary School
Mt. Healthy Elementary School
Parkside Elementary School
Rockcreek Elementary School
Southside Elementary School
Taylorsville Elementary School
W.D. Richards Elementary School
To achieve the Purple Star designation, schools must meet several criteria, including having a dedicated point of contact for military families, hosting annual military programs, maintaining a public military display, and ensuring job interview opportunities for military service members and their families.
"The Purple Star designation is more than an award; it's a reflection of our commitment to the military-connected students and their families in our community," said Dr. Jim Roberts, Superintendent of Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation. "We are dedicated to providing a supportive and inclusive educational environment for all our students, and this recognition reaffirms our efforts."
BCSC remains dedicated to upholding these standards and continuing to support our military families in every possible way.
